5th Six Weeks
Be sure to print out all assignments and turn them in to me upon returning to class. You may also email me assignments at chyde@lcmcisd.org . Don't forget to check the Warm Ups page for make up work as well. If you missed one day, your make-up work will be due one day after you get back. If you missed 2 days, then 2 days after you get back. Warning: If you did not turn a legitimate excuse in to the office, this means you were truant (an unexcused absence). You may not make up work for truancy.

Debate Topics:
-Unicorns vs. Zombies
-Batman vs. Spiderman
-The Hunger Games Trilogy vs. The Twilight Series
-Hunting vs. Fishing
-Ford vs. Chevy
-Leprechauns vs. Ninjas
2. Use the graphic organizer template to gather your thoughts and valid information (Link below).
3. While researching your debate topic, you must cite your sources! After you copy a quote use parenthetical documentation and then write out the full citation on the back of the graphic organizer. This is not being handed to you on a silver platter. Click on the OWL Writing Lab below and search "MLA Parenthetical Documentation" and "MLA Works Cited." You must do this. Without proper citation information, it is plagiarism and will result in a zero. Take responsibility for your own education. This will not be handed to you on a silver platter-- So, saying that you are "confused" means that you just haven't done enough research on how to do MLA parenthetical documentation and citations. You can't give a speech/debate with someone else's words without giving them proper credit. In a speech you may phrase your sentence, "According to the offical Lamar State College-Orange website, blah blah blah blah," without having to do parenthetical documentation. Otherwise, you will do parenthetical documentation. However, you will always have a Works Cited page.
